A brief quiz

Most beach trash is easily identified: shoes, buckets, bottles, light bulbs, sea beans....., but this was a real puzzle. Here is your challenge, "What is this?" It is aluminum, 8 feet tall, 12 feet wide, and 16 feet long. One hint: it is not a Klingon war ship.

THE ANSWER: THIS IS PART OF A SUBMERSIBLE TOUR BOAT THAT WAS ABANDONED ON THE BEACH 9 YEARS AGO.
And the winner is: MICHAEL PARENTE (TWICE IN A BLUE MOON)

Vinnie and Maria,

You stumped the chumps. I searched the web for hours before giving up!

My guess is that it is upside down and is a boat of some sort. I think it was towed. Perhaps it was a movie prop.

Hello Vin and Maria

It looks like some sort of boat hull. You can see traces of a waterline in the image. I don't think its part of an aircraft, it doesn't look aerodynamic.

Like Michael I could not find anything like it on the internet.

Some kind of boat, a trimaran likely, that's my quess.

Cheers

Xavier

My guess, although I think the trimaran is a possibility, is that it is part of the superstructure of a mega-yacht...like that one that broke apart down there last winter...

So? What is it?

James says if it is aluminum, it is probably from a plane--maybe a gun turret or something like that.

Our other guess is it is part of a boat's hull--but we can't figure out why there would be all those holes in it.

How long did it take you two to figure out what it was?

Further thoughts: It is definitely a boat (or marine thingy) and not an aircraft because of the cleats on the side facing the camera. What Xavier thought is a waterline might just be from sitting in the water and not where it was meant to float. It seems like we are looking at the rear and the circular openings were for observation. I can't really tell which way the cleats are facing so it is hard to tell whether it is upside down or not. The semicircular opening was definitely a hatch, although it could have been incase the thing tipped upside down. If this is the correct side up then the circular openings were underwater and for slow speed observation. I don't think the thing would have been very fast in this orientation. Upside down, however, it would have been faster. The lack of prop or prop opening. If it was a movie prop, you would have thought they would have taken it with them.

anyway, these are my further thoughts.

Are those cleat thingies cleat thingies? Wasn't that a beautiful sentence...they look a little like recessed valve handles...stick your hand in, turn the know kinda thing...

I don't know?!?!?!?

Upside down dive boat - that's my final answer.
