A new puzzle

Every morning we walk to the beach on the ocean side of Manjack Cay. While on the beach, we pick up all the plastic garbage that has floated in with the wind and tide. This item looked like it qualified in the plastic division, but on examination, it did not. Definitely a natural substance. What is it?

I say a bladder for some sort of marine plant. It looks a little big, but you never know.

Otherwise, my other guess was a sort of shark's purse, but those are generally smaller.

Glad to see you made it. Thanks for the interesting info on Cloudia.

Love, Chiara

I guess I should clarify; kelp and other plants use air bladders to keep their leaves in the upper part of the water, where they can collect sunlight, while the roots are attached to some substrate (rock, sand, etc.).

It's the shell of a crab after molting.

Ah yes! Natural beach detritus...more my kind of thing than Michael's. I feel obliged to hazard a guess...Some kind of swim bladder for a large jelly fish-like creature.
